Hello readers!
As all of you have most likely heard by now, I will be traveling to Peru this summer with family. I thought I would give you some insight as to how a portion of our time in Peru will be spent. Basically, we are going to stay in Peru a little over two weeks , which you can read all about here.
We leave from the JFK Airport and travel to Lima by plane and then from there, to Cusco. After a few days in Cusco, we plan to meet up with a seven day tour through Rei.
In an nutshell, REI is a member owned cooperative that sells high quality recreational equipment. They are a nationwide co-op that has their own headquarters located in Seattle, Washington. REI, additionally, has a variety of tour packages in a spread of different countries for people who like to travel.
My family picked to do the REI Machu Picchu Family adventure, which has a set itinerary. The trips that REI offers come with a variety of difficulty levels ranging from 1-5. The specific one that we chose has a difficulty level of 2, which is considered easy active. This would be geared for an the average active person. Still, my family went on a few hikes previously, in preparation for the hiking in Peru.

We chose to take this seven day tour because we love the store and trust their judgement in compiling the best activities for the itinerary. However, this would be our first time, as a family, traveling with another group of people to a foreign country. Usually, we have avoided tour groups in the past, partly because we like the leisure of being by ourselves. If you are unsure, yourself, about traveling in a group, stay tuned as I plan on putting up a review of this specific REI adventure when I return!
Safe travels,
Ella Sanders
